Part of the "Big Adventure" I am finding, is learning to be alone. It is a good thing I like myself and that I am pretty good company.
Another good thing is Calgary Transit. Yes, the wait times are long, sometimes the buses and trains are crowded but it gets you where you are going, maybe not door to door but close and if you can actually find the place you are headed to it is a bonus!
A job has finally appeared, not a regular full time job but a temporary position at a Baptist Church, which should prove to be interesting if nothing else and hopefully something more permanent will present it's self in the mean time.
I am totally looking forward to volunteering at the Highland Games on September 4th. Marg has said that she will come with me which means we will probably be attending the Ceilidh (dance) after the games, should be a lot of fun. I will let you know!
So, other than getting to know the city by transit a little better, getting a little lost and watching storms roll in, it has been a pretty quiet couple of weeks, lets hope that all changes!

And Then We Fell
Decided to spend Saturday afternoon with Sheena, Chris and Isaac. I had to catch the bus and then take the train...simple you would think.
It was a lovely day so waiting for the bus was not a problem and the bus ride it's self was great....seeing all the changes that have taken place and getting my bearings has been pretty much what I have been doing to last two weeks.
To get to Sheena's I have to take the train as well as the bus, I managed to get off the bus and climb the stairs to the train station only to find that the train station has been closed for the weekend - it would have been nice if they had posted a sign at the bottom of the stairs but I made it back down and after a deal deal of confusion amoungst the other riders, there were two very large shuttle buses that managed to get me to near Sheena's.
We went to the mall for a while....we are starting to become regulars (Sheena lives one block away).
Sheena also went to write her Learners License test in the afternoon....Her husband Chris drove us to the Registry office where she had to write it. Isaac got bored, so I took him for a walk, I let go of his hand for one short second and that was all he needed for escape. I ran after him, he went off the sidewalk and into a parking spot, that had a rather large pothole, he ran right into the pothole just as I was grabbing his hand and then we tripped. It was all very controlled and slow, I knew we were going to go down so I tried to roll under him, both of us survived, with just a little tar and grime on our pants, and a pulled tendon in my foot, not too bad at all, thank goodness. Yes, there were witnesses, and they were concerned, it is amazing how moving here has made me feel a little old and fuddy. - and Sheena did not pass her test but she will next time!
No news on the job front, I am waiting for phone calls, feeling a bit like a teenaged girl waiting for a boy to call, it kind of balances the feeling fuddy thing.
I miss all my friends like crazy. I think about you all the time and pray for you all contantly and if you want really really good Chinese food, this is the place to visit!
