What a wonderful place the First Baptist Church in Calgary is. Friendly people, beautiful church. The job there is much the same as St. Pat's, there is a Bulletin, accounting, photocopying, all the regular office stuff, Stephanie the Secretary has left on a trip to Europe and will return on September 27th. She has done a great job training me, so, lets hope I don't forget anything or let anyone down.
Getting to and from work is not nearly as great as the "Julia bus". There is not a lot of walking, with bus service almost door to door but it all takes place in rush hour so, there is standing and angry people, stepping on peoples toes, tons of noise and not so pleasant smells.
I think one of the most overwhelming is the noise....constant beeping, honking. As friendly as Calgarians can be, there is a lot of rudeness on the bus. Please Mom's with strollers....do not kick the handicapped out of their seats and when someone older or more infirm than you gets on the bus, give them your seat! Simple manners don't cost anything and make this a better place....I really hope I started something by example last week.
The long weekend has been great. the Highland games were okay, the weather was cold and rainy very Scottish. Marg came with me and we went to get something to eat after and then came back to my place and watched some movies, something that is very quickly becoming a fun weekly event. I think next week will be "The Happening" and "French Kiss". I may have to start raiding my children's movie collections to see what other film delights I can find any suggestions?
